How is Popeye Spinach produced? |
Popeye spinach is cut in the field by a spinach-harvesting machine that cleanly cuts the leaves and conveys them to bins. The bins are transported to our processing facility right after harvest. Upon arrival, the spinach is inspected and graded to ensure all specifications are met. The spinach is then washed in chilled, purified water, tumble dried and gently packaged. Technicians oversee the entire process, verifying that all quality, food safety and freshness parameters are met and maintained throughout the production run.

How long will my Popeye Spinach salads stay fresh? |
All Popeye Spinach products have a 17-day shelf life. This is indicated by the "use by date" stamped on the upper right corner of the package. However, it is not uncommon for products that have been kept under consistent, 34-degree refrigeration to remain fresh for days beyond the "use by date". Salads that deteriorate before the "use by date", have most likely suffered some sort of temperature abuse during the life of the product. As your spinach get close to the "use by date", gently rinsing the produce will help to "refresh" the vegetables.

This washing method lengthens the shelf life of Popeye spinach, as the cold chain is not broken throughout the process.

How do I open my Popeye "resealable" package? |
No scissors are needed to open the Popeye Spinach 10 oz. Field Select "resealable package" thanks to the handy perforation found on the front of the package. The zipper on Popeye resealable packaging is attached to the front side of the bag, not the top of the bag as in the standard zip-lock style. When looking at the front of the package, you will see a perforated line running across the bag near the top. Open the perforation by running your finger along the entire strip. This will expose the resealable zipper. Grasp the top of the zipper and pull apart to open. To close, simply squeeze out the excess air and reseal using the zipper.
