SPINACH POWER!
How many heroes can you name that use a leafy green vegetable to fuel their power?

Popeye knows spinach is for real. Either raw or cooked, it tops the ranks of high health foods. In fact, calorie-for-calorie, spinach and its green leafy vegetable relatives provide more nutrients than any other food.

Spinach provides a long list of important vitamins and minerals and has been found to be rich in anti-oxidants, carotenoids, and folate.nutrients essential to good health and physiological protection.

We've always known spinach was good for us, but studies continue to reveal just how good.

Spinach. A weapon in the fight against cancer
Flavonoids are plant pigments that have demonstrated promise in anti-cancer studies. Researchers have identified at least 13 of these naturally occurring compounds in raw spinach. In clinical studies, spinach extracts have been shown effective in the mitigation of stomach and skin cancers in mice. A longitudinal study in New England has shown an inverse relationship between spinach consumption and the occurrence of breast cancer in adult women.

Spinach is an excellent source of two carotenoids: Beta-carotene and Luteins. Both of which are pro-vitamin A nutrients, essential in cancer prevention and now demonstrating effectiveness in the prevention of age-related macular degeneration [ AMD ], a leading cause of blindness.

Pro-Cardiovascular-Health Cuisine
Spinach is an excellent source of folate, a B-complex vitamin studied for its cancer prevention qualities. It also works to keep other bodily chemical concentrations in control, like homocysteine that can lead to heart attack and stroke.

Along with reducing the risks of heart disease and stroke, folate has also shown promise in reducing the risk of birth defects.

Vitamin K for Bone Konstruction
Spinach provides almost two times the daily requirement for vitamin K. Your body uses vitamin K1 in the ongoing process of bone calcification.

Popeye ate spinach when he needed a boost getting out of a jam or taking care of Brutus. Modern medicine is finding out that spinach is important to all of us.
